Backyard cookouts are a Carson Valley tradition, and nothing stresses a host like running out of food halfway through the party. Start with a head count and plan about half a pound of meat per adult if you are serving sides. Kids usually eat less, but teenagers will surprise you.
What to Put on the Grill
Burgers and brats are easy crowd-pleasers. We grind our burger blend fresh at the shop, and our house sausages hold up well on a medium grill without drying out. For something a little fancier, marinate chicken thighs the night before and throw on a few tri-tip roasts for slicing.
Order a few days ahead if you need a large quantity—we can prep patties, portion sausages, and even season tri-tip for you. Pick up the morning of the party, keep everything refrigerated until the grill is hot, and you will spend less time worrying and more time enjoying your own backyard.
